Man I really appreciate how Dostoevsky doesn’t focus on the physical aspects of the stories as much. I read him to discover philosophy and characterization that’s unparalleled, and that’s what I get. When I want a beautiful world I read Gene Wolfe!

L L really does not write epics so I believe that your expectations might not have been realistic. I am Tlingit from Sitka and, to me, it appears that he gave an accurate description of the area and he also recreated the feeling of "Alaska". Southeast Alaska, is, may I say wildly, different from northern Alaska where you are from. Sure, maybe I would have liked to have more of the story occur in Alaska - I think. I did like how the writer almost help me at bay from Alaska so that it added to it's mystery - so I give the book an A- Thanks for your take on the book.

Honestly, I'm not impressed at all. I'd much rather live on one of the houses that's on the Bountiful or Farmington benches. And by the way, there's no way on earth that any of those houses are worth over $100M. The lots are way, way too small to even come close to that figure. I also did a search on Zillow and Realtor and the most expensive house for sale in Alpine has a $10M asking price, and that's not really a house but an estate, seeing as it's almost 12000 sq. ft. on a 2.3 acres lot.

Have you ever read wheel of time? In comparison, Terry Brooks is a mediocre Story teller. Poor and lazy writing skills. In my opinion, drop it and ready wheel of time. Sword of shanarah is a pain to read.

MST is like a comfort blanket for me. Any time things are bad I reach for either the paperback or the audiobook. Similarly to you, there is something about the opening lines that calm me... "On Tthis day of days"... There are few books that do this. Whether it's Simon or Pug. Sometimes these characters and books can be lke old friends and give you comfort. Feel better soon and we'll see you for The Navigator's Children...

I remember buying that Tesla album. The cover was great and it had a couple of cool songs. If I remember correctly, it was kind of grungy. I wish they would put something out in the vein of Mechanical Resonance or Great Radio Controversy. If you want to hear an 80s band that's still shredding in top form, check out the latest Winger album. Get well Brian! Hang Tough.

I’m on book 7, and I have loved all of them so far. I drive truck, and listen to audiobooks, so a narrator will have some influence on my opinion. To me, the crimes are secondary, and the characters interactions and day to day lives drive the stories. I was born when the first book takes place, and it is nice to hear how things were. “The Presidential Agent” series is where I was first introduced to Griffin. I would also be interested in your opinion on John Sandford’s “Prey” series?

Steven king has so many novels. I feel like he just pumps them out nonstop. They can't ALL be quality. But it is kind of crazy to see steven king having more shelf space than Tolkien in every Barnes and noble store.

The Sun Dog featured another typical copout by Stephen King which totally ruin the story for me, the hallucinating character. The old dude thought he was smashing the camera to pieces but it turned out to be something else. Really lame.

The character of Bobbi Anderson was not a writer, she was a digger. Boy, she loved to dig. The first 50 pages of this awful book was of her digging and digging. She took a rest, made lunch, ate it, a process that probably consume another 10 pages and then dig some more. She would've put the video game Dig Dug to shame. I never made it pass the digging phase. I got bored and went straight to the last chapter and see how it turned out.

I wish you a full and speedy recovery Brian, your recent video on the Shannara series by Terry Brook inspired me to reread Sword of Shannara for the first time in nearly 30 years and I am loving it! So thank you and Tad Williams is also a favourite of mine and I’m glad he helped restore that zest to read again. Godspeed and get well eh.

I'm reading The Forgetting Moon now! Your trilogy has been on my tbr list for about 2 yeard (since I began following fantasy booktubers). Of course, there are also several hundred other books/series on the list. I watched your video a couple of months ago where you were reading negative book reviews of your own writing. I've also been following your traumatic health expetience here. Together they convinced me that I could not put it off any longer! I'm not far in at all - only chapter 5, but I'm enjoying it immensely so far! I am totally understanding why so many reviewers lament that it's difficult to believe that this is your debut book! It absolutely does *not* read as a "first (published) book. Anyway, you have to get better! I'm hoping you're using this time to allow your imagination to wander! Take notes! Begin a new series (once you're home and recovered. 😉 ) Please! Your fans need you! ❤️ My prayers are with you! - Jessica
